Officers responded to a Christie Place salon in Scarsdale shortly before 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, when the owner reported that there was an incident involving a customer.
According to police, a woman - whose name was not released - took a pair of scissors out of an employee’s hand while she was getting a haircut, alleging that she had her head cut by the scissors, despite the employee’s protestation. The woman then began cutting her own hair, despite being told repeatedly to put the scissors down.
The owner instructed an employee to call the police to the salon, and arriving officers found the woman inside with the scissors, which she proceeded to put down. When an officer asked her to leave the chair, she allegedly refused to do so and began to blow dry her hair.
Police said that an officer unplugged the hair dryer and escorted her outside. The woman proceeded to get more agitated and started filming the officers at the scene outside the salon, refusing to give her name or identification.
Investigating officers were able to get the woman’s name from an employee at the salon, and she was escorted to her car, which was parked at the Christie Place garage.
“Although (she) was in an agitated state, there was no probable cause to detain her any further,” police said, noting that the woman returned to her home in New York City without further incident.
